cool list!!! thanks for sharing must be lots of work!
I think and this is only my opinion. I used to really enjoy Roger Moore as bond. I do think Daniel Craig plays one hell of a bond. So for me, I think he is my all time favorite bond.
I honestly LOVED Daniel Craig plus I loved Skyfall so that just made it all better. And I watched the movie twice. BEST… MOVIE…EVER
Pfui, Skyfall is all about the SFX. Take the special effects department down to the 1960s level Connery had to get by with and the movie falls apart. Fleming’s plot was dumbed down and Craig’s wooden portrayal makes it worse.
I think that Jason Statham would make a great Bond after Craig.
Would certainly make for an even more action-packed movie π
My all time great Bond man is certainly Roger Moore I very much enjoyed his time as 007 my favorite being A View to a Kill, but I also have enjoyed everyone of the 007 actors very much, hope he never dies, Thanks to Ian Fleming we can all enjoy our favorite 007…An I am so sorry to hear of Roger Moores Death..I really loved him as an actor he will never be forgotten..
I think Sean Connery is the best but then I would probably go back to Daniel Craig.Goldfinger is the best!!!
Everybody has their own personal favorite Bond. For me the best has always been, will always be, Roger Moore. All have their own good points, but Roger Moore made the Bond movies I want ti watch multiple times and never tire of.
thanks mate, glad you like it!
It took some time to look everything up, but it was worth it!
You have missed 1 James Bond.
The VERY 1st actor to play James Bond was Barry Nelson in the 1954 CBS Television version of Casino Royale.
S!
I know, there are a couple more that COULD be on the list, but these are the ones from the official movie franchise
And let us not forget Peter Sellers, 1967, Casino Royale! I know, I know, but he did play James Bond..albeit the comedy version of Bond and NOT an official franchise production.
It was David Niven who played Bond in the 967 Casino Royale. Peter Sellers played Evelyn Tremble, one of the “other” James Bonds.
Yes, why they wrote about 6 actors?
James David Graham Niven – He as James Bond 007 in 1967 copyright ” Royal Casino”
His name must be added, please!
Thanks for your comment. Niven is listed right there π
Actually in that 1967 movie British actor David Niven also played Bond.
Peters sellers play Evelyn Tremble, who pretended to be Bond at the card game.
David Niven played Bond in a spoof of Casino Royale i believe.
You missed another Bond…β¦.. Bob[can I have a P please] Holness played him too
I can’t say who is the most favourite Bond. becoz all bonds are very good.
i like all james bond movies & all caraters in james bond
but the best is what i feel & think . is Pierce Brosnan
his face says he is james bond, his attitude shows he is james bond ,his speech says that he is james bond
I think Daniel creg is the best james bond
dalton is actually the most similar type from the bond novel
Exactly! Timothy portrays Bond most. He is my favourite. I can see the dark and edgy side underneath the suave.
Although Sean Connery is my favorite Bond, but Timothy Dalton was fantastic in Licence to Kill, only that realism came before its time. The audience still wanted the gadgets and razzmatazz of James Bond at the time. Timothy and that particular Bond film is suited for today’ James Bond.
i think after craig …hritik rosan…indian actor will be perfact for james bond
As with Sajib and Syed, I think the next Bond should be an Indian Actor. After all there are many Indians living in England and I should think you could find a good match. Also, wouldn’t it be great to have Bond working in India fighting a bad and corrupt Indian industrialist who is looking to take over the world! There are many beautiful locations in India which could be used to film such a movie!
Sean Connery! The best and the original james bond.
In your listing you stated Pierce Brosnan only played 007 twice, your listing shows four times. I believe that to be correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the great list. DENNIS
wow, I can’t believe no one else saw that in the 7 months the article has been online π thanks so much for spotting the typo mate, fixed now!
Cheers,
Sietse
Hi, this is a great post! Thanks..
syed raju said,
i think after craig β¦hritik rosanβ¦indian actor will be perfact for james bond.
Raju , I think what you are is more than wrong. The greatest bond I think is Pierce Brosnan. He is the man who really looks like James Bond. And also Craig isn’t bad because he is a very perfect man.
Technically speaking, Never Say Never Again was actually an official bond film. it was a private production by Sean. which would mean he only starred as James Bond (officially) 6times. having did that, thankyou for making this list.
well it is one of the best known non-eon films because casino royale 1954 and maybe 1967 didn’t really get much of a huge opening even though they didn’t get to use jb theme or aston martin or gunshot theme it still got more viewers
Hi how do i go about contacting these actors / their agents as i would like to complete my james bond collection with a letter / or comment of some kind from the actors many tx ken
Daniel Craig is a major disgrace to Bond.you may as well use Anthony Hopkins.Michael G Wilson is not a Bond producer like ”Broccoli” was.he should’nt even be connected to Bond.been a 007 fan since the age of 9,when i first saw tswlm in 1977.The Transporter of movies are more Bond-like than Bond itself.007 died since Brosnan.
I agree. Daniel Craig is the worst Bond that has ever been. He is too mechanical in his actions. And he has zero personality.
I like roger moore
Did you all forget David Niven (Sir James Bond) and Woody Allen (Jimmy Bond) in the origional Casino Royal?
No, because “These are all the actors who played 007 in the official EON Productions series of James Bond movies.”
π
Thanks for your reply though mate!
You forgot David Niven he played Bond in the original version of Casino Royale in 1967
well they all have their special fun facts so that makes them unique in their own way however i sincerely think Brosnan has got it
er.. you might want to check your math on Craig’s age at the time of release of Skyfall.
I like Daniel Craig as Bond but I think my favorite Bond movie is Live and Let Die.. I love the voodoo stuff! (And I think that was the first one I ever saw). I remember passing protesters at a screening of Octopussy when I was a kid. I asked my dad why they were protesting and he said “Well, I guess they just don’t like James Bond”. Ha!
I grew up to Roger Moore as 007. ….Daniel Craig as the new 007 is Hot!!!! His portrayal of 007 gives us a sense of how the spy game has up’d the ante. He is mystique, strong and subtle . Love him!!! Though I was always a Roger Moore fan by birth rite due to the time I was born and grew to love. Long live 007 and MI 6
What was the James bond movie that he got married ?
On her majesty’s secret service
I like or will love james bond Actors
Hi to all james bond lovers! my idea is all james bond actors are very good!
but Mr pierce brosnan is the best Bond!
Hassan Darbandi 007 From iran
Thanks for your comment mate, great to see we also have readers in Iran!
The pioneer of the Bond character is Thomas Sean Connery who posses a package Marcho built up AS JAMES BOND
does anyone hav any cheats to 007 golden eye
It’s hard to decide for me!!! I have seen a lot of 007 movies!!! I think it would be roger Moore!! No disrespect to the great connery!!! And brossman!!!
You forgot Peter Sellers, Woody Allen, David Niven. They were all 007’s in the Comedy Casino Royale in 1967
I love Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. They are both smart and good in acting….Love the way they act.
Sean Connery is my favorite……2nd is Brosnan…more movies for James Bond….Goodlucj!
yeah, at least two as Daniel Craig signed for two more Bond movies. Great stuff!
Being a die hard of 007 brand.
I feel sorry for 007, 2 more heartbreaking movies to all genuine Bond supporters and fans…….. Hope to see an end to worst performance of Craig. I know u can act Craig, but u can’t match your peers like Roger, Brosnan or Connery……. I am sorry u don’t fit in this league. It would be better for 007 brand, u urself quit and give a new lease of life to the BOND image…..!
You need to have your head examined. Craig is the best bond yet.
My team of 6 people like likes different Bond characters. The older ladies like Sean Connery. The boys like Craig Daniel. I am a Craig’s fan myself.
Thank you for putting in all the work
Bose.
I have seen nearly all of the 007 films when they came out on the big screen, and I have enjoyed all the actors. No surprise that George Lazenby was not my favorite–sorry, George. For wit and charm, Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery, and Roger Moore were hard to beat. For more gritty stories and “realism”–this is fantasy, after all–the producers and directors have allowed Daniel Craig, Timothy Dalton, and, to a lesser extent, Sean Connery to do their thing. I have generally enjoyed most the earliest Bond films and the most recent. . . . Thanks, Sietse.
Sean Connery is the best! Craig is a little iffy on the bond attitude but other than that he does fit description pretty well i supose (Blonde hair blue eyes) and if im not mistaken everybody hated peirce brosnan at first too and now lol he is everyone’s favorite π
Craig is the best james bond actor. His fitness has made him look smart. In the three films he had acted in he was active and pretty smart. Kiribati islands and also the pacific islands appreciate his role in james bond
This is great, thanx. The first Bond movie I saw was Goldfinger, years after its production. This was quite by chance. I hadn’t even heard of Bond before that time. I was visiting the city (Nairobi in Kenya, Africa) from the country and my bro decided to take me to the movies. I was a young boy and this was my very first time inside a theatre. The experience was exhilirating. I became Bond crazy and as I grew to adulthood I’ve watched every Bond movie. I can’t wait to see Skyfall. Thanx a million.
Roger Moore was the most elegant, suave, self confidence, relaxed, finest, glamourest and best Bond ever. Daniel Craig is a major disaster; he has nothing of 007 espectacular world. Bond itself 007 died since Pierce Brosnan, the number 2 Bond.
Great list for James Bond fans’ reference.
Bring back Pierce Brosnan! There is no humour with Daniel Craig, and sorry Mr, Craig, you don’t smile enough!
Yes……. i agree with you.
Dead man cannot smile…!
Could you please inform us who won the poll (the best James Bond actor)
it seems that some may experience trouble with the poll, must be something with cookies or something.. Anyway, here’s a screenshot of the current results after about a year of voting π seems quite clear to me!
http://allyouneedislists.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Screen-shot-2012-08-28-at-19.14.40.png
My favourite is Moore, possibly cause I grew up watching his movies in the late 70’s early 80’s… so he kinda became the “official” 007 in my mind.
I remember finding the character a bit too old to be pulling stunts like that in his last films, and now I see why – he was nearly 60 back then!
Last: I was shocked to learn that Daniel Craig was only 38 during the release of Casino Royale… I thought he was nearly 50!!! π
Thanks for sharing…More Power!
There was one more in Casino Royale. David Niven played a part as Bond.
Sean Connery the best.
HAHAHAHA….58 people voted that they don’t like James Bond movies. WTH are they doing on this page? What a buncha goobers….
Love Sean as the first, but I’m really growing attached to Daniel Craig…that is one hot Bond!!!
All the James Bond actors are great. Who ever did the picking for the James Bond actors has picked well. They have all done well. Although I love all the James Bond movies and the acting, Sean Connery I love his looks and his voice plus he has grown old gracefully … now that is still one hot bond!!!
this list preparation must have needed a lot of efforts …thankz
Yea…I like this Film
The best James Bond will always be Sean Connery, he the favorite, like Tom Baker is to Doctor Who.
Love them all.Get all the actors who played James Bond in a movie at one time.Roger Moore in charge. What a movie. Love it.
the best movies are bond’s….love sean, roger , pierce and daniel……..
It’s so hard to decide the besr Bond between Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig and Sean Connery. But when I take into consideration that Connery acted the part in the 60s and 70s, I tend to want to vote him. Acting is getting better and better refined by the day and the fact that technology has also advanced greatly, helped Craig and Brosnan movies a lot. But I think when it comes to putting everything together and balancing it – screen magnetism, stage presence, screen attractiveness… Connery slightly edges Craig and Craig slightly edges Bosnan.
I loved all of Roger Moore’s “Bond” movies, Pierce Bronson and Daniel Craig is also good. Keep those Bond movies coming. As an American that was once stationed (posted) in London, England those “Bond” movies bring great memories!
Great piece of work, but why didn’t you even make mention of the Bond Ladies? Raquel Welsh etc.
OMG! I love James Bond (All Of Them) very distinguished gentlemen, but I need the next one to be African American”Morris Chestnut”… maybe
Thanks a bunch maan, great site and well put together… It came up quickly on google, so I think you did a terrific job. I can’t wait to see sky fall.
Thanks for the kind words mate!
By the looks of it Skyfall will be fantastic!
Is The Man With The Golden Gun is better than Goldeneye?
the best bond that makes sense to me is
Pierce Brendan Brosnan
I like Sean Connery and Roger Moore the best, but all the Bond actors bring their own particular qualities to the role. If you’re going to add David Niven to the list, then Barry Nelson (1954), Bob Holness (South African radio adaptation of Moonraker 1956), Terence Cooper, Woody Allen, Joanna Pettet, Daliah Lavi, Peter Sellers and Ursula Andress (all Bonds in the David Niven Casino Royale spoof 1967), and Christopher Cazenove (played Bond in “Omnibus: The British Hero”, BBC 1973), also have to be added to the list. Personally I only consider the 6 main actors to be the REAL Bonds, not the other 10 !!
Sorry for the late reply Andrew, but thank you very much for that great information! Perhaps I’ll make an updated version of this list later on π
I do not like James Bond. They all suck
nice listing buds, keep it up.
Nice job there! I’m also glad that Sietse’s always alert in giving responses to commentators. Good job! One more thing π Who do you think would be the best 007 next to Craig?
Seem to have overlooked your comment, so here’s my reply after 11 months π
I’m now actually working on a list of possible future Bond actors, also with those suggestions mentioned here. Keep an eye out for it later this week!
brosnon is the bond bond is brosnon that ‘s he plays the bond character superb
Im big fan of roger moore best jame bond but sean connery and daniel caraig are good and skfall is wicked
you omitted Casino Royale with David Niven as James Bond.
You forgot about Barry Nelson (April 16, 1917 β April 7, 2007)[1] was an American actor, noted as the first actor to portray Ian Fleming’s secret agent James Bond.[2]
Thanks for your comment Sam, but this list is all about the EON Production series of 007 movies. Perhaps I should make a new list that includes everyone π
Hi Sietse – See my entry on October 30th above – I think I got them all – most of the ‘others’ were in the 1967 casino royale spoof !
Daniel Craig: has been a bad omen to the brand 007.
Replace him with some real and stylish Bond, as we have seen over the genre’s. See the Bond Brand shoot upwards once again. Instead of relying purely on story and technology.
Bond’s Brand has got degraded from being a spy movie to another sci-fi movie. We need old BOND….OLD IS GOLD. don’t forget.. revive BOND.
timothy is my favourite wit his trade licence to kill
I have read all Ian Flemings books, and to imagine what James Bond was like in real life, only Sean Connery fits the image. One other actor who I think could fit the part is Richard Armitage who played the part of Guy of Gisborne in the recent series of Robin Hood. His image of James Bond came to me when he was in the ‘Spooks’ series.
all james bond movies are very intresting
cool… yaj svvliin angiig ni vzex we?
Best Bond? Very tough decision? I will go with Old School Roger Moore, New School
Pierce Brosnan! I strongly suggested to friends that Pierce should have been 007 well before his family tragedy. What a great guy!
Went to see Skyfall last night, brilliant, would want Daniel Craig in my corner. Roger was great but too tongue in cheek, Shaun brilliant, but
too old fashioned. Did not rate Lazenby or Dalton, though I enyoyed, Bronson.
Fantastic film, best movie of all time, its very exciting, and modern, hes no pussy Daniel Craig.
Loved him, by the way love your site, well done.
i love james bond movies all actors are good fit all preferences if one like action packed or homely you get it!!
cool!
Craig is good; and serious also.
Skyfall is a tragedy film; one comes out with heavy heart. Craig played the role very well. Given 7 films, he will become no. 2 bond after Connery.
Nice article. Was looking for such kind of extensive Bond article for months.
Here is some extra info about how much Daniel Craig got paid for Skyfall and how much he is going to get paid for the next Bond films- http://ow.ly/fqGRl
Hi Rohit, thanks for your reply and the salary information! Will amend the article accordingly
Who will be the next james bond ?
hi Shama,
At least 2 more movies with Daniel Craig, because he signed for that a few weeks ago. I wonder who else could be a good candidate. I remember that some years ago there were even rumors of Robbie Williams being the next James Bond after Pierce Brosnan π
I saw Skyfall. I was a bit disappointed it starts out slow it put me to sleep for the first part. All in all it was ok no gadgets like the previous Bond films. My all time favorite James Bond are Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnon. Sean Connery at his age still very much good looking and sexy.
List:
Sean Connery is good, but the movies are really too old now to really compete with the rest. He was a good Bond, though.
George Lazenby only did one movie, and it usually takes several movies of one actor to really get the whole picture. So no real opinion there.
Roger Moore played in seven movies, and went up to 1985. I liked him because he really made Bond look like a gentleman. I believe he was very successful as a Bond.
Timothy Dalton put in a sort of mysterious Bond attitude that hadn’t been seen before. I found him a game changer.
Pierce Brosnan was a very mixed Bond to me. Unlike Roger Moore (who I felt liked women more than he should), Pierce was romantic and lethal to his enemies at the same time. He balanced out the characteristics of James Bond.
Daniel Craig likes women, but I found him more of a fighter than any other Bond. He’s more of a “license to kill” kind of Bond than any other.
Hope this helped
Hi Niels, thanks for sharing your detailed opinion!
I am Dutch, by the way Sietse
Welkom Niels π
you guys like speaking allot
but i like daniel craig
he is awsome
i think brosnan is the richest of them all. and also handsome.but a little old. why dont americans act.
because it’s the British Secret Service π
I appreciated your website very much. Thanks. It was sweet to see the names n photos in order.
Hi Todd, thanks for dropping by. Working on more James Bond lists so come back often π
dear brother, where is other bond. i want know about all bond. i think u r the rt person of this ?.
Hi there, thanks for your response. What exactly do you mean by other Bond?
i love all the bond movies i have fond memory’s will all bond films… this said i dont believe someone can say this was a bad bond (Shankar). here is how i see new bonds as they come out 007 james bond is a title handed down to the best operative in mi6, some are funny with jokes some are serious.
Daniel Craig is the biggest joke as a Bond man. Sure women these days like him because he has a six pack and so few men do that most women are suckers for that no matter how lame Craig is as a believable agent. Craig is like the Jackie Chan of Bond movies. Nothing against martial arts action movies but that’s all Bond is now. Craig jumps around like a gerbil on crack. It’s like watching transformers type action with Barney from The Flintstones playing the lead. Short, blonde and not much going on upstairs. As a guy who has always loved Bond movies until now, there is nothing intimidating, intriguing, or fascinating about Craig as Bond. In real life if he leaves hid shirt on, no women of the caliber you see in Bond movies would ever notice him. Bond is suppose to be a man that women want and men want be. I’ve never wanted to be a short blonde guy who has about as much personality as my.little finger.
in my openion with all bond actors, i verymuch impressed with daniel graig, here many of criticise him as boring actor. i think many of them missed to notice his movies story plotform, its all depthy compare with earlier bond movies. many more time i enjoyed my movie time with casino royale. and one more favour with daniel, that is he is the one affectionate bond, either with vispur lind or with M mam.
do you guys like james bond
o no i wrote the other email .
why does it come another pic
hey sietse are you british

i think this website is cool hey sietse you are cool to because many people are surfing in your web so why dont you put that says like and the other says dislike.and guys i am the one who speaks alot know
Fuck you all! Daniel Craig is the most perfect 007 agent! He’s the best!
I love Pierce brosnan. He is the only actor who got good story for bond movies and he is the one who played more with the gadgets of all the other bonds… He is charming and act very good. I think they should ask him to do a bond movie again. He is the real “007”…
sean connery the best. second to Pierce
Hi All Guys, Best is Daniel Craig to me π Second Roger Moore, Only Then Pierce Brosnan hehe. Good Luck
No match to Sean Connery…… but time has changed… Now Craig knows his work very well.
Roger Moore managed it with his good looks and light comedy. Bronson not a fit person to play Bond.
I know more about James Bond than u do and Brosnan is very fit
All r best, but my favt is pierce brosanon….
And if u give me a chance i wil show u the more sexy, handsome and dangerous bond….
daniel craig for me is one of the best james bond actors that we could ever have. ^
Pierce Brosnan is my favorite…. I have the game that he is in called ”everything or nothing” COOL GAME.Also i love the movies he is in.At least He has a sence of humor!
A day witout watchn any of d Bond’s movies, is jst lik a day witout drinkn water. 007 is my role-model. Roger,Brosnan, & Sean my favourite. 4rm Nigeria
I have been a fan of James Bond from the beginning, and have enjoyed all the Bonds. Connery created the film character, and just gave us what Bond “should” be like, and I love him for it. Lazenby tried to do an “everyman” with his bond, and that just did not work. Bond can never be an “everyman”. I loved Moore for his lightness and humor, which was perfect for the times. Dalton’s darker Bond was very good, but perhaps ahead of its time. I think his Bond is more understood and enjoyed today. Brosnan was again our wonderful suave and humorous Bond. And Craig is now perfectly with the time as a darker and more edgier Bond. Craig is perfect for today.
Sean is best – but Timothy Dalton is a close second! What a pity he only did 2 compared to Connery’s 7. I don’t like Daniel Craig – no humour, cold blooded & ruthless…no – bad casting. They should have got Hugh Jackman or Liam Neeson.
I totally concur with your sentiments about Mr. Craig. As a woman, my opinion is that “James Bond” needs to be an Alpha Male. The only one who exuded Alpha Male qualities was Sean Connery, period. I am not, nor ever have been into the “metro-sexual” types. Just saw Skyfall, the only way I could accept this story, was pretend Mr. Craig was a different character. Once this was accomplished, managed to enjoy the story. Barney Rubble…LOL!
Tie between Craig and Connery
Sean Connery no doubt. Bond seduces women and only Sean has the smile that could seduce women at first instances (as in the stories) Craig ? Man no smile at all though he got a perfect body and action for a spy agent.
I would give his vote for “All actors – the best.”
surely Sean Connery is the best and Craig is the last!
but we always live in our time…
I don’t see Daniel as james bond.He is like only action fighting actor.Pierce is the most smart man as james bond.We are unlucky only four movies which pierce acts as james bond.
What about David Niven who played in one version of Casino Royale
Sean Connery has always been my favorite, but as I grow older and more bitter, I feel that Daniel Craig pulls it off better for me now. He is just somehow more Bond in my mind.
I have seen all the Bond movies..my Dad was a Bond fan..He kept loads of Ian Flemmings Books and articles..
Sean Connery for me typified Bond.. Roger Moore did well.. though I didnt warm up with Lazenby in OHMSS..he did his best but that was one emotional bond.. Daniel Craig is kind of overstretching the xter for me.. Brosnan was the right peg in the right hole.. but the storyline in The World is not Enough was overstretched as well..Dalton held his own as he only starred twice..
And what is wrong with the directors a lot of goofs in Skyfall in this age and time..
Thanks
Some great and not so great comments. I enjoyed all the movies I saw, have not seen them all and won’t unless I get lucky and see them on public television. Thanks for the post. Can’t remember why I came here now.
well, mr connery is definitely the best looking, best moving james bond. photographs very well also. mr. moore made a joke of some of 007’s missions. mr. dalton, too serious for the era. mr. lazenby was the 1st human bond, he fell in love. mr. brosnan i think the most glamorous bond, and mr craig, the most action oriented bond. as for my favorite bond or if i rank the bonds according to their movies, 1 connery, 2 lazenby, 3 brosnan. 4 craig. 5 moore, 6. dalton.
Connery and Craig are good. Moore glamarous.
All others are waste of time. Bronson total misfit in the role, only get some numbers by having a cunning face;.
i think realism is the in thing now-a-days, skyfall is also going that route. but since this is what’s called for, citing skyfall, i feel that there are two scenes that should have been shot diffrently. 1) as mr bond is climbing out of the komodo dragon’s pit he should’nt have been faced with a villain’s gun, and conveniently saved by moneypenny dropping the metal case on the man. this is so old movie, old trick, boringly old. the same when 2) bond had disarmed all of silva’s men and again the MI6 choppers all conveniently arrive just at the right moment. it’s so boringly old movie trick. maybe they should have been shown to have waited awhile and the day or time passed and the day got dark, then the choppers arrive. anyway that’s just me noticing some old boring, soo boring movie tricks.
to continue, i guess the scenes were made to inject humor but it no longer does, on the contrary, it sways the audience’s mood to feeling the scene is corny and removes the seriousness of the movie, i did. scenes like that are as old as the movie industry, because it is so contrived and in reality doesn’t happen. realism and seriousness is lost. and sometimes, even the double meaning side comments of bond feels worn out. what seems to be good to bring back is the background music of john barry, because it is so apt to 007 movies, going back, maybe they can find other ways to put humor, not those in the “nick of time” scenes. so old …. or in these times maybe, the movie can survive without it.
most of us grow to like the bond we first meet, i like all of them but i like sean more becuse he has the right manly voice, deep. he is the tallest bond and moves very naturally in the scenes, – and around women, he moves the best. mr moore i like him as simon templar than a bond. also because i knew mr connery 1st as bond and moore 1st as simon templar. all the rest fall short compared to connery, although they grew into the role. with connery the plot compliments him & he compliments the plot. the role was written for him. it was a 50/50 share of input. mr dalton i think lacked the presence on screen to portray bond. his bonds plots were very good but they fell short. moore’s bonds were very good but there was to much lightness or humor that seemed to come out of every scene. it didn’t feel like bond on the screen.it sometimes didn’t feel like a bond movie. if only ‘the saint’ was introduced in the cinemas as well, it would have been a bang! mr lazenby didn’t have the acting experience but the plot was very good. it was a human bond. and the story ran very smoothly, the killer ending was tragic and it could happen to a secret agents’ life, very realistic, & the treatment of the scenes were not too light.. it had the best entrance for a new bond at the time. the scenes were very well chosen and shot. this time the plot carried mr. lazenby. mr brosnan’s bond was carried by his favoulous face. as for mr craig’s bond, casino royale was excellent. the plot was so good. it was the most realistic plot after a long line of bond movies. except for the sinking of the building. skyfall’s plot is just a wee bit under the plot of casino royale, but just to mention this, the scene very likely a bond scene is the one where the assassin was preparing to shoot the target through the glass in the neon light filled room is one of the best if not the best scene in all of the bond movies. it was so evil and dark. it dramatized the moment of murder & death. not that i liked evil. it was just so unique. it was the most serious scene in any past bonds.
i read several comments here and there were suggested actors to play james bond, after daniel craig of course, and someone even asked why americans can’t play 007? that’s right, because it’s the british secret service. so with that reasoning it’s too bad because there is one american actor- chris noth of sex & the city and the current law & order series who has the height, 6’2″, ideal hairline & bushy eyebrow like connery, moves around women well, like connery. because i watch him in sex & the city. he could play james bond. but he’s not british. too bad.
append an accent and you can be anyone you want π good suggestion by the way, hadn’t heard this one yet!
My favourite Bond actor is Sean Connery but Daniel Craig and Timothy Dalton I like to.
Just Sean Connery
easy pierce and timothy!how does flemming do it!
f*cking sick list brother!!
Knob heads David Niven was the first bond casino royale
Sean Connery is the best bond ever
George Lazenby is the worst bond ever
Roger Moore is the funniest bond
Timothy Dalton is the original James Bond (novel) fleming’s opinion
Pierce Brosnan was good in only one film (goldeneye)
Daniel Craig is the most high paid James Bond actor to date, most handsome and my favorite James Bond actor
Hi, what about David Niven in the Spoof of Casino Royal.
Hi Dr.
Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment!
By popular demand I have added Barry Nelson and David Niven to the list. First it was only the EON-produced list, but it’s called “List of ALL James Bond Actors” after all.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone π
Sietse
I will be heartbroken when Daniel Craig is no longer James Bond. However it might soften the blow if Tom Hardy was the next 007.
Tom Hardy seems like a likely candidate should there be another change of Bond!
Sean Connery. If I remember correctly, when he was chosen to move Ian Fleming’s great character from the page to the screen, Mr. Fleming wasn’t pleased because Sean is a Scot and he wanted a Brit with a little more polish. However, when Hollywood got through with Sean, he was perfect! I really think all of the rest have done very well, but I liked Roger Moore better as Simon Templar (he fit that role better) and Pierce Brosnan better as Remington Steele. Daniel Craig is very good (I like blue-eyed blondes) and we have to remember that Hollywood is not workimg from Fleming’s original material anymore. Thank you for your hard work. I will always be a Bond fan and was even before the movies were made.
Sean Connery is, “The Only BOND”! “WHO” is really a “BOND”!
The only actor who is really BOND IS SEAN CONNERY
First off, Danny Craig couldn’t act his way out of a wet paper bag if given instructions !!! Second, Pierce was and is more of a comedic actor… not suited for Bond. Third, what the hell happened to Timmy since his days of Bond ? Enough said on him !!!
Now, after all that being said, let’s make “Mr. Bean” a Bond agent…. LMAO We can call him Agent 008 and the name of the movie, “Behind The Eight Ball”
Like Craig the most. His role and the circumstances involving him are more realistic than the previous bond movies where Bond doesn’t seem to get hurt, dirtied, or looked so perfectly suave which was kind of boring and impossible. Craig portrayed a more edgy and kind of darker character which is what I imagine as a real life special agent would be.
I find Roger Moore to be my favorite Bond, although Connery is my favorite actor in the group. By the way, βIt was a mistake, like casting George Lazenby as 007β³ is a simile, not a metaphor.

No one could compete with craig….. He’s the only actor that suits best as bond….. That’s a well known fact!!! π
Skyfall star Daniel Craig has beaten out David Beckham to be crowned the Most Stylish Man of 2012. Bosses at GQ magazine annually compile The 25 Most Stylish Men list – and Craig has been named the guy with the best fashion sense in 2012. ;
Freshest content article on our very own online site prettygoddess.com
everyone shush up its all the same all of you guys babies
i love all the JAMES BONDS but i mostly love the movie SKYFALL and AEDELE singing in it
i love Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan as Bond… it is difficult to choose the best one among them.. Daniel Craig portrayed james bond as more of a human than a superhero.. i love him for that..
What is everyone’s obsession with Pierce Brosnan? He’s one of the WORST cast James Bond characters ever! He’s so full of himself, on and off-set. Not only to mention, one of the worst actors I’ve ever seen next to Woody Allen. At least Woody Allen is somewhat funny. I’d watch a movie with him any day, over something with Pierce Brosnan in it. Best James Bond is Sean Connery, Hands down. Daniel Craig is second best in this role because he also suites the role better than Brosnan. He is definitely portrayed as more human-like. Only superheros can blow up and still come back, yet in real life an agent is human and wouldn’t come back. Daniel Craig’s role as Bond seems more realistic than previous Bond movies. Let’s face it, the more realistic the character the better the movie turns out and not all the actors had that charisma.
The list is cool and as for me, i feel Daniel does it well.
daniel craig is doing very great as bond, thumbs up for him
his accent is ways too cooool
IT’s very disappointing that Daniel Craig is the new Bond. In my opinion, they could have picked someone much better….but not someone with blonde hair and blue eyes.
He doesn’t have that certain something that all the other Bonds’ have.
I agree, he’s not your ordinary type as far as looks for playing Bond. I think they wanted to take the character in a different direction and I think he’s doing a great job. He’s more of a darker character then all of the other Bonds.
pierce brosnan is best
Cool article, and very informative. I think you got the ages of some of them wrong, though. Connery and Moore have birthdays late in the year, so they were technically a year younger than listed for the following:
You Only Live Twice
Live & Let Die
The Spy Who Loved Me
Moonraker
For Your Eyes Only
Octopussy
A View To Kill
Not nitpicking, just want to do my small part to help insure accuracy.
As for the matter at hand, I enjoyed Connery and Brosnan, but I think Craig has beat them out as my favorite Bond.
That’s great mate, thanks for your input! Will update accordingly
Brosnan is the best and the most suited to Bond.
I liked most of the Bond movies. It’s just that the story line made the difference. Some had more gadgets but all had sexy women. When you get into the move you don’t realize who the actor was until it’s over.
Good comment by Prescott. I never noticed the guys playing Bond as much as I noticed the plot and the beautiful women.
I don’t know why producers gave up in Skyfall, the excellent idea, brought in Cassino Royale and developed in Quantum of Solace, of Bond fighting against a crime organization (like Spectre). A real pitty.
personally, i think, daniel craig is the worst bond. he is wooden and i don’t find him even a screen presence. how does a supporting type actor become a lead and a not very good support either. are there or, were there no other englsh actors to play this role? in a country possessed with great talents surely, this can’t be true.
Boy, I can’t understand what people like in this new Bond films with Daniel Craig. He is pathetic, not funny, not charming and have no extraordinary toys (which to my understanding were integral part of this character).
In Skyfall he is an old, weak depressed man…what a pity.
Thanks for the list mate…!!!
Sean Connery is the best. All others are good EXCEPT! Daniel Craig he is the worst of all James Bond character Movies.
cool
criss cuervo the best
hi sean conerey
I’m sure it’s Devil May Care, not Devil May Cry. Since when does James Bond have white hair and run around with a great big sword and a red coat? ^ ^
good find, stupid typo, must have had my mind elsewhere π
Thanks!
Great lists, love the polls and results.
Well done,
D~
Thanks for stopping by! Who did you vote for as best Bond actor?
Did you already vote for your favorite flagship burger? http://allyouneedislists.com/lifestyle/list-major-fast-food-chain-flagship-burgers/
Of the many actors who portrayed James Bond you have to admit that Sean Connery is the master. With his dry quips after beating a villain, the way he presents himself onscreen and his accent, he is the tops. Second would be Daniel Craig, who after a long search by the movie industry to find a replacement found him.
Hi Paul, thanks for stopping by. I have to agree with you! Sean Connery really is the best, but Daniel Craig is the best choice today!
I love james bond movies
We were all young and comparatively naive at the outset yet Sean Connery, with his dark, menacing, sophisticated characterization of Bond will always be tops….leaving me both shaken and stirred. Wonderfully hairy fellow, to boot! Roger Moore was too comic. Timothy Dalton will always be the queer French royal from the Lion in Winter. Pierce Brosnan’s vocal patterns are too affected and he mispronounces “nuclear”. George Lazenby has no forehead and Daniel Craig is great but blonde!
In the David Niven spoof of CASINO ROYALE, Woody Allen also played a second James Bond, called Jimmy Bond… so there are really 9, not 8 Bonds.
Connery > Brosnan > Lazenby > Dalton > Moore > Niven > Nelson > Daylight > Craig
Connery was unquestionably the best, despite the first “official” EON production coming 8 years after the CBS-TV version with Barry Nelson in the role. The Scot set a standard that the others could only hope to live up to, and only Brosnan got close. Lazenby was a little too laid back for the part, Dalton not laid back enough, Moore too old (by the time he did A View to a Kill he was MUCH too old), Niven only played the role in a spoof so did it intentionally for laughs. Craig’s portrayal is wooden, while Bond is 007, licensed to kill, Craig is 006, unlicensed to act. All of his Bond movies have been about special effects rather than about the character.
RIP Roger Moore
Originally James Bond started as a comedy until Sean Connery came along. Watching the Bond movies evolve through the years is the greatest thing. Daniel Craig put the suspense into this franchise. Sean Connery made it a guys dream to be Bond. Roger Moore had the girls. Timothy Dalton is the lead up to where Daniel Craig takes over.
I laughed out loud at Slartibartfast’s comment: “… while Bond is 007, licensed to kill, Craig is 006, unlicensed to act.” (Sean Connery IS James Bond!)
As a person familiar with the Bond franchise but never really delved into it. I’m only familiar with Roger Moore and Sean Connery. But Moore was who I grew up with. My later brother and I used to watch the late Saturday night runs of James Bond. We’d take turns playing Bond or Jaws. But when I started seeing Connery, he kind of bored me. But then again I never really knew what Connery’s finesse was. Seeing all the new Bonds that would come after Moore I never knew there were 2 more that existed before Connery. I only learned of Lazenby this years. And of course I will admit Daniel Craig seems to be the best pick for the Bond franchise of today. I’ll have to revisit some of the Moore Bond movies. I’ll miss him for what little I knew of him. It seems he and Sean were probably the most influential Bonds to come about. RIP Roger Moore. We won’t ever forget the legacy you left in the Bond franchise.
Any fool who says George Lazenby was “forgettable” as James Bond, is an idiot whose never seen On Her Majesty’s Secret Service! The FACT is, he was VERY much praised for his performance when it came out, hence him being offered a contract to do 6 more and a million dollars. People got pissed at him for not doing it and debased him and tried to rewrite history, but all you have to do is see it, and learn the facts to know what a real treat he was as Bond! I had the pleasure of seeing it and was blown away by his charisma and coolness. It is a shame he did not make more, but he did not want to do it and lived his life the way HE wanted, which I respect totally. He made his own life and money and didn’t need the entertainment industry, and more power to him! But it’s still a shame in a way because he was very good!
I must say that I have only just realized just how damned good Timothy Dalton was too. After seeing Sean Connery & Roger Moore for years as Bond (both of whom I liked btw) I simply was not ready for this darker version of Bond back then. However, I totally appreciate it now that I’m older. He was fantastic actually, and I feel he is the one that is truly the most underrated!
My least favorite Bond is Pierce Bronsan. I like the man, but his portrayal of Bond is very much a caricature, and his films are frankly, boring.
Daniel Craig did a damn fine job IMO, but I am looking forward to seeing who will be cast as the next James Bond.
Who r play next role of bond next time
Shoot
In India any action scene bay
Craig is listed as having played in 3 movies, yet 4 are listed. Please update.
You’re right! Edited!
I’m age 72, so as an 8 year old, I remember seeing actor Barry Nelson play “James Bond” on television
in 1954! I didn’t even know who James Bond was, but I remember enjoying him & veteran actors,
Sydney Greenstreet & Peter Lorre playing the villains in that production of “Casino Royale”! They
made one change to the Bond character & made him an American spy, instead of British!
Still, my favorite Bond will always be Roger Moore, who should have played the part originally,
but couldn’t, because of a prior commitment to “The Saint” television show! Lastly, I can’t believe
how the various Bond actors could receive such huge pay differences, i.e. 50,000 pounds for George
Lazenby to an astounding $39,000,000. for Daniel Craig, who’s just “O.K.” in the roll!
